Every day, 35 people die from a heart attack outside the hospital. Extremely high. Yet, it was reported in the news this week that less than 1 in 3 Dutch people without a first aid certificate are willing to use an AED. And that's while it's incredibly easy.

How does an AED work?
Without any first aid knowledge, it seems daunting to take action when someone suffers a cardiac arrest. But what if you know the victim will die if you do nothing? Start CPR and use an AED immediately. The chance of the victim surviving a cardiac arrest is significantly higher when someone uses an AED. The AED works by delivering an electric shock to restart the heart. And did you know it's incredibly easy to use an AED? The AED provides clear instructions on exactly what to do.

Where can I find an AED?
According to the Red Cross, there are 20,000 registered AEDs in the Netherlands.
