Unique invention: contact your rescuer in an emergency!
You may have been involved in an accident where you were helped by bystanders. At such a moment, you are incredibly grateful, but they often remain passersby whom you know nothing about. And in the specific case of CPR, you have no idea who saved your life before the ambulance arrived.
Hart4all has developed a system that makes it possible to have contact with your rescuer and vice versa. Anyone performing CPR in the Zuid-Holland Zuid region now receives a wristband with a unique code from the ambulance personnel on the spot. The patient also receives a wrist or ankle band. This makes it possible to contact each other afterward, of course only if both wish to make contact. If there is a match, you receive each other's email address. In 500 cases where bands have been distributed, there has been a match 120 times. Ninety percent of the rescuers log in on the same day. Compared to thirty percent of the patients, which sometimes takes up to six months before they want and seek contact.
Bettina Heefer, the inventor of the system, says: “Many involved in CPR afterward feel the need for contact. Such an event is indeed stressful and can be psychologically burdensome. Once the ambulance has left with the patient, the citizen responders are left with a lot of adrenaline but empty-handed.” "They are eager to know whether the patient makes it or not. If they call the hospital or ambulance service with that question, they hear nothing due to medical confidentiality."
Precisely those who perform CPR within 6 minutes, which significantly increases the chances of survival before the ambulance arrives, make the difference between life and death. These people can now contact the patient or the patient's family via Hart4all. A wonderful invention!
