The Floor is NOT Lava

Why you shouldn't immediately pick up a child after a fall.

Today we delve into the world of children's falls and how we can help them safely and lightly (if the severity is not too bad). As parents, our first reaction is naturally to pick up and comfort our children immediately after a fall, but this is not always the most sensible action. There are two reasons for this.

1. In the case of a fall with serious injury, we must remember that unfortunately, we can no longer prevent the fall. It has already happened. However, by picking up the child, we may potentially worsen the injuries.
2. Fortunately, children usually fall without sustaining serious injuries. Falling and getting up is part of life, but it is something you need to learn. And there are ways to do this that are both safe and fun.

Tips for learning to fall and get up when it's not too serious
1. The magic of the Stand-up Dance: Instead of immediately picking up your child, invite them to stand up like a real dancer. Provide a gentle and cheerful beat and encourage
them to slowly get up while showing their best moves. This not only helps them to stand up independently but also turns a potentially traumatic experience
into a funny dance moment!

2. The Fall-and-Roll Superhero Training: Reassure your child by teaching them how to fall and roll safely like a real superhero. Organize a Superhero Training session where you practice falling on a soft surface, like a mattress, with your child. Encourage them to roll like a ball and stand up again as if it's the most normal thing in the world. This way, falling becomes an adventurous experience instead of something to be afraid of.

3. The Magical Band-Aid: When your child has a small scratch or a not too serious injury, use the power of imagination. Keep a supply of
magical band-aids in various colors and patterns. Let your child choose which magical band-aid they want to wear and tell them it has magical powers to make the pain
disappear. Before you know it, they'll be running around again as if nothing happened!

4. The Pet Method: Sometimes children just need a little time to recover after a fall. Encourage your child to lie still for a moment and suggest bringing their
favorite stuffed animal to comfort them. The stuffed animal can reassure them and help them feel safe while they catch their breath again.
